The Main Components of a CNC Machine

Meet your ‘Other’ employees – The basic parts of a CNC machine If you desire to carve out your name on wood accurately, you would be considered lucky if you are able to finish your first name in 24 hours with perfection and accuracy. Many years ago, wood crafting and metal crafting were considered to be quite expensive industries because the tasks were carried out by hand. There were no machines that could do the work with same perfection. However, the introduction of CNC machine changed everything.

These days, with the help of modern technology, you can easily think of carrying out serious and tedious tasks such as wood carving, metal molding, cutting and finishing with limited use of hands. Surprisingly, a company that involves hands for mass production, is considered unproductive. A CNC machine has changed a lot and for better. Today, every industry demands CNC machine. People today like to push buttons better than doing labor.

In fact, most business men are talking about CNC machine because of its’ accuracy, flexibility and speed. The CNC machine can be termed as a full factory of its own. There are also various parts of specific functions. The vice: The vice is what actually holds the material that needs to be molded or cut. Make sure that the vice is quite tight. This will help in holding the material in a secure place. The vice serves as a clamp that requires to hold the material securely and in the accurate position.

The guard: This guard serves as a protection factor to the CNC machine operator. As soon as the machine starts working, chances of ‘shooting off’ of the material scraps are higher and this happens at a great speed. This can be very risky for the operator in case, a piece that hits him or her. The guard covers all the dangerous sides of the CNC machine efficiently. The chuck: The chuck is useful in holding the cutting tool. Certain sophisticated designs need great chuck in order to know the actual design.

The motor: The motor works towards rotating the chuck at a good pace. It is ulterior and efficiently protected inside the CNC machine. This part needs to be handled very carefully. These days, lubrication and cooling is automated in almost all CNC machines. In case, this part doesn’t function well, it cannot be treated easily. Hence, a good CNC technician needs to be on site 24x7. The lathe bed: This can be referred to as the strong base of the CNC machine.

The lathe bed is connected to the headstock and helps the tailstock and carriage parallel to the axis of the spindle. The bed is bolted securely so that it does not more from its’ space with the machine’s vibration as soon as the machine starts operating. The cutting tool/cutter: This is the site where the primary level shaping occurs. The clutter is created from supreme quality steel in order to make sure about the exact material that needs to be fed to the CNC machine.

As a business owner, you need to know all about your employees, create a bond with them and earn good respect without intimidating them when CNC machine works for you, you need to understand the working of the machine. Never ever get carried away by what a salesman tells you. You need to know what these machines consist of and how they work.
